The Problem
Despite being a forward-thinking industry in many ways, the production side of film and TV remains surprisingly archaic. Vital information is often shared via PDFs distributed late at night, after crew have spent hours compiling them manually. Schedules are tracked on Excel spreadsheets, and communication happens across a chaotic mix of WhatsApp groups, emails, and text messages, many of which are missed or ignored. For an industry that depends on military precision and efficiency, far too much time is wasted on outdated, fragmented workflows.
In addition, a single production can employ anywhere from 100 to 700 freelance crew members, none of whom are full-time employees. These crew are typically hired through informal personal networks, with no centralised record of availability.
This becomes even more critical when dealing with complex shoot days that require daily workers. The current approach places enormous pressure on a shooting schedule that is, by necessity, tightly controlled and unforgiving.
Our Team
Well positioned within the industry, our founding team brings over 100 years of combined experience in Film and TV, having worked at the highest levels across some of the world’s most iconic and critically acclaimed productions.
The Solution
Sixth Degree is positioned to become the industry standard in production management. By focusing on essential tools that crews rely on daily, we are creating a platform that drives regular engagement and long-term user retention. This sustained interaction enhances the value of our paid services, positioning Sixth Degree as an essential platform for third-party suppliers and filming locations aiming to connect with active productions.
Our MVP is a truly unique offering. While certain services exist that provide narrow features like basic crew directories or digital calendars, no single platform brings together the operational needs of a production into one purpose-built environment. Sixth Degree does just that, offering a seamless user experience tailored specifically for the film and TV production process.
Productions can search for and connect with vetted crew members in seconds, using detailed profiles that include credits, availability, and references. This eliminates the inefficiencies of manual hiring processes and builds trust at every level. At the same time, Sixth Degree centralises communication, scheduling, and logistics to streamline operations and reduce the need for multiple disconnected tools.
Looking ahead, we are expanding into areas where siloed solutions already exist, such as contracts, timesheets, file management, and daily footage review. All of these will be housed within a single, intuitive interface. Our modular infrastructure ensures we can introduce new features without overcomplicating the user experience. Sixth Degree is designed to scale, offering the same level of clarity and control to productions with 20 crew members as it does to those with 700.

Our Mission
Sixth Degree is on a mission to centralise the entire film and TV industry. From a professional network where crew can showcase themselves and find their next job, to a powerful workflow tool for productions to manage and communicate with their teams, to a fully integrated marketplace for third-party suppliers and filming locations, Sixth Degree brings everything under one roof.
We’ve already built a working platform and are now seeking £1 million in investment to scale. This funding will allow us to grow our user base, secure partnerships with the largest studios, and expand into new territories.
The opportunity is vast. In the UK alone, there are an estimated 12,000 suppliers and a practically limitless array of filming locations - from residential homes and warehouses to stately homes and commercial spaces. Yet the industry remains fragmented and underserved by technology.
Sixth Degree solves this by creating an intelligent, interconnected network, one where all industry professionals, from runners to producers, can interact seamlessly.
Looking beyond our MVP, we’re building toward a sticky ecosystem: a daily-use platform that crew rely on not just when they’re working, but when they’re looking for work. Sixth Degree becomes the hub of their careers and the connective tissue of the production industry.
